TRACE HEATING
Electric heat tracing, heat tape or surface heating is a system used to maintain or raise the temperature of pipes and vessels.
Trace heating takes the form of an electrical heating element which is run in physical contact along the length of a pipe or vessel surface. The pipe, vessel or equipment must then be covered with thermal insulation to retain heat losses. The insulation specification is essential to the required results being achieved.
Heat generated by the elements then maintains the temperature of the pipe, vessels and equipment. Trace heating may be used to:
- Protect pipes from freezing
- Maintain a constant flow temperature in hot water systems
- Maintain process temperatures for piping that must transport substances that solidify at ambient temperatures
- Other vessel and equipment frost protection and heat maintenance
We can manufacture, supply and install removable insulation covers incorporating trace heating for frost protection and many other heating requirements.
All our trace heating systems are designed, installed and commissioned to BS EN 62395 – 2:2013
We’re able to advise all our customers on the most suitable trace heating and insulation products to suit. For more information please contact us.
